Our First Home: "Before and After Photos"

I'm back and I couldn't be happier! I have been going through some personal things this past year and blogging was hard to keep up with. I am so excited to be back because this is truly what I love to do and I can't wait to bring so much exciting content to this space moving forward! Thank you all for sticking with me! Now onto a fun home post to kick things off!

Right after Dean and I got married, I moved into his apartment and we quickly realized that we were going to need more space. Our house hunt began and took A LOT longer than we expected.

We went into looking with our "must haves" list and just weren't finding what we wanted. We spent countless hours looking with our realtor and started to get pretty frustrated as we wanted to find something SO BAD! It wasn't until my mom drove by our current house that had a "FOR SALE" sign out front and called us immediately to go look into it (THANKS MOM). We walk in and really loved the space, but knew that it needed some love. The previous owners had twin boys so there was baby stuff everywhere and they had a ton of furniture that we just couldn't envision ourselves living with. We left thinking that we liked the house, but couldn't see it changing as much as we wanted it to with out light and airy style!

Even though we didn't love the decor, we left and couldn't stop thinking about how cute we could make it! Since my mom is an interior designer, we decided to take her back through to see if she thought we could make it what we wanted. I don't know why, but it's so hard for me to look past other people's styles- something I definitely need to change because you can do so much to make it feel like yours. She walked in and loved the space. Dean and I liked it even better the second time we walked through. We knew it was home and were so excited to make it feel like home.

Over the past year and a half we have done some minimal work that made all the difference. We knew this wasn't our forever home (stay tuned for some news on that tomorrow morning) so we didn't want to spend an outrageous amount of money on fixing it up, but I was so happy with the minor tweaks that we made.

As you can see in the images above, the previous owners had everything pretty dark and SO MUCH FURNITURE for it being a smaller house! We really brightened the space up and filled it with pieces that were both functional and also made the space look a lot bigger than it actually is which was very important to us.

We had so much fun working on this house and I wanted to share to show you all by just making minimal tweaks you can really make a BIG difference. Hope this inspires you all to hold off on those big projects and make some small changes that will make your space feel like new. I am so excited to be back to writing on the blog and hope you all enjoy! Sending big hugs- xx
